Cesaral Magic Pendulum
Magically make a borrowed watch stop and start again whenever you want
Effect 1. Magic pendulum. A spectator selects a card, returns it to the deck, and shuffles it. The magician spreads the cards on the table and borrows a watch. He ties it to a piece of string so that it hangs like a pendulum. He then searches for the chosen card using the pendulum made from the spectator's watch. He places the pendulum over various cards, and suddenly the second hand stops on a card, which turns out to be the chosen card. When the pendulum is moved away from that card, the watch starts working again.
Effect 2. Clock stopping. The magician borrows a watch with a second hand. To isolate it, he ties it to a piece of string. He concentrates on the watch and stops the second hand. When he wants to, he manages to get the watch to work again. You could even say that when the spectators are having a good time, time goes slower and can even “stop” for a few seconds…
Effect 3. Time/Date Prediction. The magician selects a spectator who wants to know the date (or time) when a special event will happen, and asks to borrow a watch. The person could be a pregnant woman who would like to know, for example, the time of day or even the date she will give birth. To isolate the watch, he ties it with a string and holds it up high away from everyone. The selected person says out loud the desired time or date, and suddenly the second hand of the watch stops at the specific number corresponding to that date. A few seconds later, the watch starts working normally again.
Important points: The magician is not near the borrowed watch during the effect, he simply holds the string. The method used is undetectable, and can even be done when surrounded. The reset takes less than 5 seconds, and is therefore very good for impromptu magic. It is very easy to do, allowing you to concentrate on the performance. The watch and the rope can be examined at the end.
